There's No Place Like…The HSN 2011 Awards Gala

Each year, as part of HSN's Annual Partner Recognition Program, HSN awards the year's most remarkable Partner contributions relating to HSN's pillars of success.

For 2011, out of 1,200 eligible Partners, over 200 nominations were submitted across all categories. Each nomination was carefully reviewed by a senior selection committee, comprised of VP and SVP leaders, along with the HSN Executive Committee, to determine the finalists for each category.

At A Night in Oz: The HSN 2011 Awards Gala, held on March 8th, more than 65 Partner finalists were celebrated for their extraordinary efforts, commitment, creativity and innovation talent that contributed to the successes of 2011.

The evening was a true celebration of the great and powerful Partners of HSN, and the theme could not have been more appropriate.

"Tonight we are here to celebrate you, our partners, to recognize your accomplishments and to thank you for your contributions in helping to drive the success of HSN," said Mindy Grossman in her opening remarks, "In many ways, the story of HSN closely mirrors that of the Land of Oz. It tells a story of a search for courage, intelligence and passion and a search for true self. That was what we set out to do to reinvent HSN."

Each award category and its finalists was presented by one of the HSN Executive Committee Members and an HSN Show Host. Throughout the awards presentation, 26 Partners were commended as "winners" across 23 different categories.

The awards were handed to the winners by HSN model Kristin Black, aptly coined "Miss Oz". Winners delivered heartfelt acceptance speeches as true testaments to their enduring Partnerships with HSN.

At the half way point of the evening's festivities, Deborah Lippmann amazed the audience with a spectacular performance of a medley of songs from "The Wizard of Oz" and "Wicked", including the defining "Defying Gravity" – lyrics which truly punctuated the night's theme of Partnership:Together, we're unlimited.

"Oz is a place where magic abounds," added Grossman as she once again commended Partners on their 2011 successes. "Nowhere is that more evident than in this room tonight. You make HSN magical, and I thank you for that."

Pioneering Perfection: HSN Honors Skincare Industry Legend Adrien Arpel as 2011 Partner of the Year

At this year's HSN Awards Gala, Adrien Arpel was recognized as the 2011 Partner of the Year for exceeding expectations across all business metrics and key strategies.

"But, to talk about why Adrien has been named partner of the year goes beyond the numbers," said Mindy Grossman, CEO HSNi, as she prepared to present Arpel with the esteemed honor. "She is the ultimate partner, committed to our customer and to HSN."

Adrien Arpel's journey in the skincare industry began long before she came to HSN. In fact, Arpel, President and CEO of Signature Club A, has been educating women about how to care for their skin and achieve the look of a professional makeover for her entire career.

A ground-breaking entrepreneur, Arpel launched her career as a professional skincare expert at the age of 17 with $400 she had earned from babysitting. That $400 investment has since generated over $1 billion dollars in sales and created an international cosmetic empire. The truest definition of an expert in her field, Bloomingdales had already recognized Arpel as a legend in 1987!

Eventually, as the distribution landscape continued to evolve in the beauty industry, Arpel decided to challenge herself and her company by making the transition from department stores to electronic media. It was a story of legend…and she broke every known record of success on the channel.

This year, Arpel celebrated her 18-year anniversary on HSN. During her tenure, she has sold over 750 million dollars of innovative products to HSN's customers. During that time, Arpel also expanded her reach in helping to make women look and feel beautiful by launching her jewelry lines: Real Collectibles by Adrienne, and Couture Watches by Adrienne.

"Adrien has challenged me, taught me about the beauty business, helped me navigate the world of HSN, inspired me with her wit, her intelligence, her style and her passion, let me be a part of her family and, in the process, has become not just a mentor, but a true friend," said Grossman.

In 2011, through innovative product launches such as her Platinum Electrocharged line of products and the expansion of her proprietary capsule delivery system (which has sold more than 200 million units), Arpel achieved a stellar year. In addition, successful new collections in jewelry helped her reach a combined sales growth of 13 percent, while increasing both productivity and units!

Arpel and her team also exceeded all metrics in operational excellence and customer experience, and consistently maintained over a 4-star product rating with 55 percent of the company's products rated as customer picks.

"I have received many awards during my career, but none as meaningful to me and my Signature Club A team as "Partner of the Year" from HSN," said Arpel. "There are so many outstanding partners who work with the network, and I am particularly honored to have been singled out to receive this award. HSN has been growing at an exponential rate, under the leadership of Mindy Grossman and her talented team, and I am proud and grateful to be a part of this dynamic network."

HSN Cares Swings into Action for Big Brothers Big Sisters

On March 8th and 9th, HSN sponsored the HSN Cares 2nd Annual Partners in Charity Silent Auction and Golf Tournament in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County. As a result of the generosity of sponsors, product donors, players, and silent auction donors and participants, the events raised a total of $39,500.00 for this deserving charitable cause.

Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the nation's premier youth mentoring organization for more than 100 years and has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (Bigs) and children (Littles), ages 6-18, in communities across the country.

The funds raised from this event have been donated directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pinellas County, which services approximately 1,500 children annually. The estimated cost to make and support a match for one year is about $1,200. By joining HSN Cares in our fundraising efforts, these generous supporters have helped to cover these costs, but more importantly, have helped to make a BIG difference in a child's life!
